'TAJ
MAHAL' by Santhosh Nair, a composer not much heard of, is a memorable
album. Santhosh, a Keralite composer has touched the soul of music
with the 4-5 songs he has put together in the album. Singers Jagjit
Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan, KK, Roop Kumar Rathod, lyricist Rajesh Johri,
instrumentalist Rakesh Chaurasia all have done their part well matching
the excellence of the composer.
The music which stays in mind is deep
and has a soothing effect. Instruments like flute and santoor dominate
the music and the compositions have an influence of Kashmiri Folk.
Jagjit Singh has opened the songs on both sides; 'Ishq Kya Hai'
on side A and an aalap on side B. 'Taj Mahal Ki Ba Zabani' another
song is sung twice by the talented pair Sunidhi Chauhan and KK.
Sunidhi also sings an English number 'Story of Eternal Love'.
Rakesh Chaurasia gives an instrumental
version of the grand song 'Ishq Kya Hai'. The overall quality of
music is admirable. Santhosh is a composer to look out for in future.
