Kali masjid, situated in Juna Bazar area in the old city was built in 1600 A.D by Malik Ambar, an Abyssinian slave who became the Prime Minister (Wazir) to the king of Ahmadnagar. The mosque is called so because it was built of black stone and it stands on a high platform supported by six pillars.
