Nathdwara, the holy city located in the Aravalli hills on the banks of
Banas River in Rajsamand district is famous for its 17th century temple
dedicated to Lord Shrinathji (Lord Krishna). Nathdwara literally means
'gateway to Lord Nath' is situated 48 km north of Udaipur. Nathdwara temple
has an infant incarnation idol of Lord Krishna carved out of a large black
stone and dates back to 12th century. Festivals like Janmashttami, Holi
and Diwali are celebrated here with much gala. Nathdwara is also renowned
for its Pichhwai Paintings which portrays Lord Shrinathji, ivory articles
and mouth-watering sweets.
