Diwali is celebrated in the month of October/ November every year to commemorate the day of the return of Lord Rama (Hero of the epic Ramayana) to Ayodhya after his 14 years exile. It is celebrated with much pomp and delight. During the festival day the whole city is illuminated with millions of oil lamps, candles, electric lights, fireworks and crackers. In the evening Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity is worshipped.
