Cities & Towns Madhya Pradesh Bhopal Destination Mosques Jama Masjid
Located at the centre of chowk bazaar, Jama Masjid is a small beautiful mosque, built in the year 1837 by the erstwhile ruler of Bhopal Qudisiya Begum. Jama Masjid is a fine example of Islamic style of architecture and its structure is elevated from the ground level. The most distinguished feature of Jama Masjid is the two massive minarets crowned by gold spikes and three bulbous cupolas, that can be clearly visible from a considerable distance. The interior of the mosque is adorned with a series of alabaster-white columned arches and a marble sanctum. The masjid complex also contains a small pond used by worshippers for performing ablution. The Jama masjid is accessed through the narrow and busy lanes of the Chowk market. |
