How to Reach Port Blair

Sea : The best option to reach Port Blair is by Ship. There are Passenger ships from Chennai, Kolkata and Vishakhapatanam to Port Blair. There are three to four sailings every month from Kolkata and Chennai to Port Blair and vice-versa and one sailing from Vishakhapatnam in a month. The journey takes about 50 to 60 hours. Chennai- Port Blair (60 hrs), Kolkata- Port Blair (66 hours) and Visakhapatnam - Port Blair (56 hours).

Air : Port Blair is connected with Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata by air. The airport is Veer Savarkar Airport at Lamba Line, named after the famous freedom fighter Vir Savarkar who was imprisoned in Andaman island at Cellular Jail. 

Flights are operated by Indian Airlines and Jet Airways. Jet Airways operates services from Chennai to Port Blair on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Indian Airlines/Alliance Air operate frequently on both Chennai-Port Blair-Chennai and Kolkata-Port Blair-Kolkata sectors. Flights are always fully booked at least a month ahead. The journey takes about 2 hours 30 minutes.
