The 1982 Commonwealth Games were held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia from 30 September–9 October 1982. The Opening Ceremony was held at the QEII Stadium (named after Queen Elizabeth II), in the Brisbane suburb of Nathan.

Forty-six nations participated in the Games with a total of 1,583 athletes and 571 officials. Ten sports featured at the Brisbane Games – archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, cycling, lawn bowls, shooting, swimming and diving, weightlifting and wrestling. As hosts, Australia headed the medal table.
