The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India has put together various programmes / schemes which gives assistance, training and awards to the organisations, sportspersons and youth for promoting sports and games in the country and to motivate them to achieve excellence at national / international levels. The awards for honouring eminent sportspersons for outstanding performance in their respective sports discipline would be presented to them by the Honourable President of India at a function held at Rashtrapathi in New Delhi.
