Godhra
is the capital town of Panchmahals district in Gujarat.
It was an important
centre during the Mughal and Maratha periods. It is a developing town
with the establishment of several industrial units and educational institutions
for higher education. It is also a market place for forest products as
the nearby towns of Devgadhbaria and Dohad, located north of Godhra forms
a tribal and forest belt. Rathanpur located to the south of Godhra is
known for its splendid 14th century temple with its sculptures and a beautiful
arch.
