Linzer torte is a dessert from the city of Linz, Austria said to be named after the chef who prepared it for the first time.

We have Chef Ashok Kumar demonstrating how to make Linzer torte.

Ingredients :

Butter - ½ cup
Sugar powder - ½ cup
Egg yolk - 2
Maida - ½ cup
Cashew nuts -  
Cake crumbs -  
Egg white - 2 eggs
Lemon - 1
Cinnamon powder - 1 tbs

Cooking Method :

Take butter in a glass bowl, add powdered sugar. After mixing well, add egg yolk to it. Beat well after adding egg yolk. To this add maida.

Torte comes under the short crust pastry category. It will be bit crumbly type of cake. Add sponge cake crumbs, crushed cashew nuts to it, we can even add almonds or walnuts. Add a pinch of cinnamon powder for flavour.

Take egg white in a bowl, add few drops of lemon juice and beat it well. Beat until it foams up. Add a pinch of sugar to it that it can be beaten stiffly. Add the beaten egg to the dessert batter and mix slowly. Now pour it to the mould, and spread jam on it. Spread jam evenly on all sides.

Make a cone out of butter paper as shown in the video below and fill it with the batter. We will make a lattice design over it. This net type of design is called as lattice design. We are done with our batter. Bake the batter in oven for 20 min in 170 degree Celsius.

Linzer torte is ready by now, we can have it hot or cold!!! It is a very good and sweet dessert. It is a very rich product and good for kids. Nutrient value is very high in it. It has egg, butter, sugar and jam. It will be loved by kids.
