Onion Chappattis with Bottle Guard Chutney and Apple cucumber Salad

Bottle Gourd Chutney
Indian Chutney's are famous all over the word. Its popularity has given it a special place even in the English Dictionary. We are going to introduce you to our Bottle Gourd Chutney.
Ingredients:
Toor Daal - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Sliced Onion - ½ cup
Sliced Green chillies - 5-6 no
Sliced Bottle Gourd - 1 cup
Sliced Tomato - ½ cup
Tamarind water - 1tbsp
Oil - 3-4 tbsp
Salt - to taste
For seasoning
Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
Raw Red chilies - 6-7 no
Curry Leaves - 14-15

Method :

Place a shallow Pan over the stove, pour in 2-3 tbsp of oil into the pan and keep the flame in Medium Mode. Add Toor Daal and Cumin seeds into the oil and let it splutter. Add chopped onions and chillies, sauté for some time till the onions turn golden brown. To this you can add chopped Bottle Gourd and Tomatoes. You can add oil if necessary. Add Tamarind water to give a sweet-sour tartness to the chutney and finally add salt to taste. Let it cook for some time… Once it is done, switch off the stove and let it cool for sometime. Now to achieve a thick chutney consistency we need to grind the cooked Chutney in a mixer.

Meanwhile you can heat a tbsp of oil, splutter mustard seeds, curry leaves and thinly slit red chillies. Pour it over the grounded Chutney to give a spicy aroma. Your thick Bottle Gourd Chutney is ready to serve.

Now that we have made Chutney we can go ahead with the Spicy Onion Chapattis.


Onion Chapattis

Chapattis are made of wheat flour and are considered fibrous. We are going to make spicy onion chapattis.

Ingredients :    
Wheat flour - 2 cups
Onions - ½ cup (chopped finely)
Green Chillies - 3-4 no
Salt - a pinch
Tamarind water - 1tbsp
Water - as per the need
     

Add wheat flour into a bowl, to this add chopped onions, chillies, pinch of salt and Tamarind water (for the sweet sour tartness). Now we can stir the flour with a spoon until all the ingredients are combined. You can also use your hand to make the dough. Use more water if needed. Shape the dough into balls with your hands. Roll the balls with a rolling pin until the balls resemble thin round Pancakes. Place a Pan over the stove and keep the flame in medium mode you can cook the chapattis until blisters appear on the bread surface. Turn over and cook the other side as well & spread oil or Ghee over the Chapattis. Remove the chapattis from the pan and your onion Chapattis are ready to be served.


Apple Cucumber Salad.

Salads have been popular among people for centuries. They are easy to digest, healthy, and simple to make. We are going to make Apple cucumber Salad.

Ingredients :
Thinly Chopped apple - 1
Thinly Chopped Carrots - 1
Sugar - 2-3tbsp
Thinly Chopped Cucumber - 1
     

To start with, add each cup of thinly chopped apple and carrots into a bowl. You can mix in 2-3 tbsp of sugar into the bowl and toss the salad using a spoon so that sugar is spread evenly through out the salad . Finally you can add thinly chopped cucumber and continue to stir for 3-4 minutes. You can serve your Cucumber salad to a wine glass with a tbsp of sugar as its topping. Your Apple Cucumber Salad is ready for the treat.
