Shaam, Madurai-born, Bangalore-bred model turned actor, made his debut in 2000 with '12B', a Tamil directorial venture debut of well-known cinematographer Jeeva, co-starring Simran and Jyothika. With his gym-groomed physique, model like looks and obvious talent, he became popular amongst teenyboppers. Despite his much-talked about debut film, most of his later releases were non-starters at the box-office like 'Bala', 'Lesa Lesa' (2002) and 'Iyarkkai' (2003) which won the national award for best Tamil film  etc. But with the success of his 'Ullam Ketkume' (2005) and ABCD (2005), Shaam is back in the reckoning. He has worked with many experienced directors including Priyadashan, Shankar, Jeeva and also done many big budget films.
