A scriptwriter, theater artist,
director and the list may go on and on, for Rahul Bose. A former advertising
accounts manager who moved into acting at 26, Bose has emerged as the front
man for everything experimental, new and different in Indian cinema. He
debuted with the movie 'English August' in 1994. Acclaim
followed for his work in movies like ‘Split Wide Open’(1999), 'Mr. And Mrs.
Iyer' (2002), and ‘Jhankaar Beats’(2003) – all international award-winning films. Be it 'Raja ' in Aparna Sen's 'Mr. and Mrs. Iyer' or
the investment banker opposite the foul-mouthed 'Chameli'
(2003), Rahul seems to fit the bill.
He is also a member of the Indian rugby team calls himself an innate sports lover.
Time magazine called him the
superstar of Indian art house cinema’ while Maxim (Italy), ‘the Sean
Penn of Oriental cinema’.
