An actor who wanted to be a doctor
initially, Prashanth, is the son of South Indian actor - producer -
director, T. Thiagarajan. He debuted with the Tamil movie 'Vaigasi
Poranthachu' (1990) at a young age of 17, which fared fairly well at the box office. 'Chembaruthi'
(1992) directed by Selvamani gave him a strong footing in Tamil movies. Apart from Tamil, Prashanth also has many successful
films to his credit in Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi. 'Thiruda Thiruda'
(1993), 'Jeans'(1998) (Tamil), 'Perunthachan' (Malayalam), 'Tholi Muddu'
(1993), 'Prema
Vijayam', 'Premapattam', 'Allariprema' (Telugu), 'I Love You' (Hindi) are
some of the films which showcases his talent. Prashanth who has the nickname 'Kathal
Ilavarasan' (the Prince of Love) has received the Kalaimamani award from
Government of Tamilnadu and is a Bharathanatyam exponent. He also plays many musical instruments
and has passed third grade in Piano music from Trinity College of Music, London. Adventurous by nature
he is trained in martial arts, gymnastics, roller skating,
horse riding, rowing and yachting. He got married in 2005, to Grihalakshmi.
