Pune is a city which lies in the western part of India. The city is well connected to the rest of India through state highways, national highways, arterial roads, and expressways. NH50 and NH4 both pass through Pune.

Air :
Pune Airport is situated in the Lohagaon area, about 12kms from the heart of city. It is the major airport of Pune operated by the Airports Authority of India. Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Air Sahara provide regular service to and from Pune. The cities Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai are all air connected to Pune. International travelers can get connecting flight from Mumbai International Airport.

Rail :
Pune is an important railway junction in Indian railway and has excellent railway services to all major cities. Pune Junction Railway Station located in the city center is one of the major railway stations in Maharashtra. It is connected on Broad gauge line. The rail route linking Pune with Mumbai is served by Central Railways and to Chennai by South Central Railways. The important trains that pass through this station are Deccan Express, Indrayani Express, Mumbai-Chennai Express, Mumbai-Hyderabad Express and Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram Express. 

Road :
Pune is well connected by road with the all major cities within the state as well as outside the state. Pune has 3 bus stations - the Railway Bus Stand, Shivajinagar Bus Stand and Swargate Bus Stand. The Railway Bus Stand or Pune Station Bus Stand situated near Pune Railway Station is the major bus stand of Pune. This stand operates buses to Goa, Belgium, Kolhapur, Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani. Shivajinagar Bus Stand operates buses to Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Lonavala and Nasik. Swargate Bus Stand or ST Bus stand is the starting and halting point for ST Bus to and from Pune to all town and cities. Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) operates services to various towns and cities of Maharashtra. Private luxury deluxe buses are operated from Pune to many cities in India, including Goa, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Local Transport :
Pune has a very good local transport system. For local transport, Auto-rickshaws, city buses and private taxis are available.
