Nagpur is well connected with four major metros of India namely Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkatta and Chennai by all three modes - road, rail and air.

Air :
Sonegaon Airport (IATA: NAG, ICAO: VANP)  also called as Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport at Nagpur is nearly 8.5 km south-west of the city. It is connected with domestic flights to the cities of Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi,

Hyderabad, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Goa, Ahmedabad, Raipur etc. and with international flight to Bangkok, Sharjah, Doha and Dubai. Indian Airlines, Air Deccan, Indigo, Spicejet, Goair and Jet Airways are the major airways operates from Sonegaon airport.

Rail :
Nagpur Junction Railway Station (code: NGP), located in the heart of the city at a distance of 1km east, is an important railhead having direct trains to all major cities in India. It is is the divisional headquarters for Central Railway and South East Central Railway. The station building constructed in 1867 with pink sandstone is one among the magnificent buildings in Nagpur. From Nagpur railway station regular trains are available to Delhi , Mumbai, Bangalore, Jaipur, Indore,  Lucknow, Benaras, Agra, Surat, Rajkot etc. Some of the important trains that passes through this station are Gondia-Nagpur Passenger, Rajdhani Express, Nizamuddin Express , Grand Trunk Express, Andaman Express, Kerala Express etc.

Besides Nagpur main station, there are several small railway station located in the vicinity of Nagpur city. These stations are Ajni (about 3.5kms from Nagpur Railway station), Itwari (4kms), Kalamna (8kms), Kamptee (16kms) and Khapri (17kms)

Road :
Nagpur is well connected by roads with all the major cities of the Country. India's two major national highways namely NH7 (Kanyakumari-Varanasi) and NH6 (Hajira-Kolkata) and another highway NH69 which connects Nagpur to Obaidullaganji near Bhopal passes through the city. Besides these, two Asian Highways AH46 connecting Kharagpur to Dhule and AH43 connecting Agra to Matara in Sri Lanka passes through here. 

Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has two bus stations; namely Nagpur Bus Sthanak (CBS-1) near Ganeshpeth colony and Mor Bhavan (CBS-2) at Jhansi Rani Square, Sitabuldi. Both these stations are located 1.5kms east and west from the city centre. Regular bus services are available from here to the states like Mumbai, Pune, Bhopal, Indore, Raipur, Aurangabad, Nashik etc.

Private buses and auto rickshaws are the most common transport facility for the common people in the city . Public Transport buses (Star buses) operated by Nagpur Mahanagar Parivahan Ltd (NMPL) are also there to cater the transport needs. It has a fleet of 470 Low-floor Star Buses that serve around 2.5Lakh citizens daily in the urban, suburban, metro areas.
