Air : 
The Mangalore airport, located at Bajpe (code : IXE), is about 16km north east of the city. The airport connects the city with other important places of India and almost all major airlines operate flights on a regular basis. Indian Airlines and Jet Airways have flights that functions between Mangalore and the major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai. The airport also has easy transportation facilities. One can avail the pre-paid taxis from the airport.

Rail :  
Mangalore has two railway stations namely Mangalore Central Railway Station (Code: MAQ) and Mangalore Junction Railway Station (Code: KNKD). Mangalore Central Railway Station alias Mangalore Railway Station is at Hampankatta, about a kilometer away from the heart of the city. Malabar Express, Mangalore Mail, Parasuram Express and Matsyagandha Express pass through this station.

Mangalore Junction Railway Station, popularly known as Kankanady Railway Station, located 5 km east of the city, is under the administration of the Southern Railways. Netravathi Express, Gandhidham Express and Mangala Lakshadweep Express are the major trains that pass through the station.

Road :
Mangalore is well connected with India's major cities through the National Highways NH 48 and NH 17. Both the state transport service and private buses are well maintained in the city, which connects it with the nearby places. The major bus terminal is located at a short walk from the Mangalore Central Railway Station which operates super deluxe, semi deluxe, express and shuttle buses. Buses ply from Mangalore to Bangalore, Mumbai, Belgaum, Mysore, Coimbatore, Madurai, Bijapur, Hassan, Somavarpete, Ernakulam and Kozhikode.
