Roasted Onion Chutney

Onions are widely used in accompaniments such as salads and chutney's. Raw onions as well as cooked ones are used in chutney's. Roast onion chutney is a popular variety among various types of chutneys. It is served warm and is included as an accompaniment to the main course.

Ingredients :

Oil - 1 tbsp
Onions Chopped - 2 cups
Tamarind soaked in water - 1 cup
Red Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
Salt - ½ tsp

Cooking Method :

Place a shallow non-stick pan over the stove and keep the flame on medium mode. Heat a tbsp of oil and add 2 cups of chopped onions and sauté until the onions become lightly brown. Lower the flame and add chilly powder. Saute till done and now pour 1-2 tbsp of tamarind water and salt. Stir lightly until desired consistency is achieved.

Roasted onion Chutney can be prepared in no time and goes well as an accompaniment to Dosa, Idly, tapioca and rice dishes of all kinds.
