Garam In Hindi means Hot, and Masala means blended spices. However, Garam for Garam Masala means warm aromatic spices. So the Garam Masala is a blend of warm savory aromatic spices that are added while cooking curries. The blend varies from region to region and recipe to recipe.

The spices needed for making garam masala are

Ingredients :
Dried Red Chillies - 3 to 4 nos
Black Pepper Corns - 1 tbsp
Fennel Seeds - 1 tbsp
Cinammon - 3 to 4
Cummin Seeds - 1 tbsp
Cardamom - 2 to 3
Star Anise - 2 to 3
Mace - 1
Cloves - 2 to 3

Method : 

Dry roast all the spices like red chilies, black perpper corns, fennel seeds, cinammon cummin seeds and cardamom till a masala flavour comes out. Transfer all the ingredients into a blender and grind well.

Cool the blended masala and store them in air tight jars.
