Mahesh Bhatt has based quite a few films on his own life and his next
"Woh Lamhe" will show details about his intimate relationship
with late actress Parveen Babi.
Starring Shiney Ahuja and Kanagana Ranaut in main leads, the film releases
on Friday. It is produced by Vishesh Films and is directed by Bhatt's
nephew Mohit Suri, the man behind "Zeher" and "Kalyug".
The film tells the story of Sana Azim (Kangana Ranaut) and Aditya Garewal
(Shiney Ahuja) as seen through the eyes of Aditya.
The film begins with a suicide. The news that the famous Bollywood
actress Sana has slashed her wrists in a hotel room creates a furore
in the city.
When Aditya hears the news, he is shell-shocked as he has been searching
for her madly for three years. She had disappeared without a trace.
He rushes Sana to the hospital and is very troubled to see her struggling
for life in the ICU.
While praying for her recovery and their re-union, Aditya reminisces
the happy days with Sana, who was not only his lover but mentor too.
She had stood by him, supported and guided him during his days of struggle
to find a firm foothold in Bollywood.
Life was then a blissful journey. But a dark cloud in the form of Sana's
mental imbalance was looming over their happiness.
But Aditya was not ready to give up. He decides to fight to save their
relationship for the sake of Sana's happiness. And the only way out
was to leave Bollywood as it threatened to take away everything from
them, especially from Sana who was at the brink of destruction.
But destiny has something else in store for them.
Sitting in the hospital, Aditya feels helpless because Sana is hardly
in a position to answer his questions. Aditya is forced to live a life
with unanswered questions.
Would destiny be kind to him this time around?
Curiosity about the Mahesh Bhatt-Parveen Babi relationship can play
a major role in the film's success as many are eager to know what happened
between Bhatt and Parveen and what kind of person she was.
Kangana and Shiney are good actors so one expects "Woh Lamhe"
to be an engaging film.
Among some earlier films by Mahesh Bhatt on his life are the hit "Arth",
based again on his relationship with Parveen, "Zakhm", based
on his childhood, and "Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Ayi".
