After 'Rajamanikyam' super hit movie director Anwar Rasheed is back again teaming up with Mammootty for the new film titled 'Annan Thambi'. The movie revolves around the lives of twin brothers with extremely different attitudes and characters.

In this film Mammootty is doing a double role of brothers Appu and Achu. As per an astrologer's verdict, their father Ravunniaashan (Janardhanan) decides to separate them at a young age. Appu is sent to his Uncle who lived in Pollachi. There he was grows up assisting Dharmarajan. Slowly he falls in love with his daughter Thenmozhi (Lakshmi Rai). This leads to the separation of Appu from Dharmarajan. Meantime his brother Achu is an active number of the ballet troupe run by his father.

The film has two female lead roles- Gopika, who had earlier paired with Mamootty for the blockbuster movie 'Mayavi' and Lakshmi Rai. Mammootty's childhood is enacted by Sonu and Monu, who were selected after a mammoth search, screening 157 pairs of twins. Others in the cast include Harishree Ashokan, Salim Kumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Biju Kuttan, Mohan Jose, Urmila Unni etc.

'Annan Thampi' was scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam. Rahul Raj composes music for the songs of Vayalar Sharat Chandra Varma, Bichu Thirumala, Santhosh Varma. The film is produced by Shahul Hameed, Marikkar and Anto Joseph under the banner of Marikkar Films.

The film would be Mammootty's Vishu release.
