Budget Highlights 2012-13

Rural Development :

•	Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme: 33000 for providing a legal guarantee of 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to rural households.
•	*Aajeevika (National Rural Livelihood Mission)*: 3915 for reducing poverty by enabling the poor households to access gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities.
•	Rural Housing: 11075 for providing assistance to rural BPL households for construction of houses and upgradation of kutcha houses under Indira Awaas Yojana.
•	Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana: 24000 for providing connectivity to eligible unconnected rural habitations through good all-weather roads.

Drinking Water Supply :

•	National Rural Drinking Water Programme: 10500 for supplementing the States in their effort to provide safe and adequate drinking water to all rural habitations.
•	Rural Sanitation: 3500 for rural sanitation.

Land Resources :

•	3050 for Integrated Watershed Management Programme.

Agriculture and Cooperation :

•	9217 for Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (State Plan).
•	1850 for National Food Security Mission.
•	1500 for National Mission on Micro Irrigation.
•	1350 for National Horticulture Mission.
•	1135 for Crop Insurance (3 schemes).
•	716 for construction of Rural Godowns.
•	600 for support to States’ Extension Services.

Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries :

•	150 for Dairy Entrepreneurship Development.
•	150 for Livestock Census.
•	230 for National Dairy Plan and Dairy Development.

Agricultural Research and Education :

•	583 for Agricultural Education to improve the quality of human resource and to upgrade infrastructure and educational reforms.
•	507 for Agricultural Extension programmes to disseminate frontline technologies.

Environment and Forests:

•	1330 for Ecology and Environment and National River Conservation.
•	906 for Forestry and Wild Life and National Afforestation and Eco-Development.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises:

•	1276 for Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme
•	100 for National Innovation Fund.

School Education And Literacy :

•	25555 for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan
•	11937 for National Programme of Mid Day Meals in Schools.
•	3124 for Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan.

Higher Education :

Women and Child Development :

•	1356 for Optical Fibre Cable based Network for Defence Services.

Health :

•	20542 for National Rural Health Mission.

Ayush :

•	280 for National Rural Health Mission for Development of AYUSH
•	Hospitals and Dispensaries and Mainstreaming of AYUSH.

Information and Broadcasting :

•	608 for broadcasting sector.
•	188 for information sector.

Urban Development : 3168 for equity investment in Metro Rail Projects.

Highways :

•	11472 for investment in National Highways Authority of India.
•	1500 Special Programme for development of road connectivity to Naxal affected areas.
•	7881 for Capital outlay on National Highways.

Power :

•	4900 for Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana. The target is to achieve electrification of 4800 un-electrified villages and offering electricity connections to around 34 lakh BPL households.
•	3114 for Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme. The objective is to facilitate State Power Utilities to reduce the level of AT&C loss to 15%.

Textiles :

•	2914 for technology upgradation fund scheme
•	2450 for revival, reform and re-structuring the handloom sector.

Social Justice and Empowerment :

•	1500 for Post-Matric scholarship for Scheduled Castes.
•	1200 for Special Central Assistance to Scheduled Castes Sub- Plan.
•	625 for Post-Matric scholarship for Other Backward Classes.
•	50 for Pre-Matric scholarship for Other Backward Classes.

Tribal Affairs :

•	750 for Post-Matric scholarship, book bank and upgradation of merit of ST students.
•	244 for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups.
•	86 for Pre-Matric scholarship for ST students.

Development of North Eastern Region :

•	60 for loans to North Eastern Development Finance Corporation.
•	45 for North Eastern States Road Investment Programme.
•	35 for North Eastern Region Livelihood Project.

Science and Technology :

•	400 for Science & Engineering Research Board
•	400 for Alliance and R&D Mission.
•	315 for multi-disciplinary research in frontier areas of Science & Technology including Science & Engineering Research Board.

Space :

•	642 for INSAT/GSAT system.
•	380 for PSLV-C Project
•	301 for INSAT-3 Satellites
•	259 for GSLV – Operational (including Mk-III Operational).
•	250 for Advanced Communication Satellite (GSAT-11 including Launch Services).
•	208 for GSAT-7 Launch Services.
•	125 for Mars Orbiter Mission.
•	82 for Indian Lunar Mission (Chandrayaan - 2).

Civil Aviation :

•	4000 for equity infusion in Air India.
•	280 for Airports Authority of India.

Earth Sciences :

•	290 for strengthening research facilities for the Polar Sciences and Cryosphere activities.
•	256 for augmentation of Atmospheric Observation Systems Network to improve operational weather and climate forecast.

Sports :

•	235 for the scheme of Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan.
•	105 for Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan.
•	64 for National Youth Corps Scheme.

Chemicals and Petro-Chemicals : 1552 for establishment of Petrochemical Gas Cracker Project at Lapetkata, Assam

Pharmaceuticals : 70 for establishment of 6 new National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education & Research.

Panchayati Raj : 50 for Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Sashaktikaran Abhiyan (RGPSA), an umbrella scheme containing 12 components.

Heavy Industry :

•	456 for Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project.
•	255 for Indian Leather Development Programmes.

Fertilisers :

•	129.40 lakh MT of Nitrogenous Fertiliser production targeted
•	47.87 lakh MT of Phosphatic Fertiliser production targeted.

Coal and Lignite:

•	574.40 million tonnes of domestic availability of Coal has been assessed during 2012-13, which is projected to be met from Coal India Limited and others.
•	24.80 million tonnes of Lignite production estimated during 2012-13

Steel :

•	26.40 million tonnes of Iron ore production targeted by National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.
•	16.30 million tonnes of saleable steel production by Steel Authority of India Ltd. and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd.targeted.

Railways :

•	24000 for investment in Railways.
•	3200 kilometres of track renewal.
•	1100 kilometres of route electrification.
•	800 kilometres of gauge conversion.
•	700 kilometres of new lines
•	700 kilometres of Doubling and manufacturing of additional 630 locomotives.

Postal : 516 for IT induction and modernisation.

New and Renewable Energy :

•	4145 MW Grid-interactive Power capacity addition from wind small hydro, biomass power/cogeneration, urban and industrial waste to energy and solar power.
•	1.25 lakh - construction of family type Biogas plants.
•	0.60 million m2 deployment of solar thermal systems, promotion of energy-efficient buildings and master plans for solar cities.
