The Government of Pondicherry conducts an annual international Yoga festival from January 4th-7th. This festival which attracts Yogis and Yoginis from the world over, aims to develop the conscious process at all levels-physical, mental, emotional and spiritual-and completeness in every aspect of life. The programme consists of practical Yoga classes and discussions on the various topics of Yoga.
The two world renowned yoga institutions in Pondicherry are the Aurobindo Ashram and the International Centre for Yoga Education and Research, also known as the Ananda Ashram.
More than 500 delegates from within and outside the country will present demonstrations and participate in the lectures or workshops held as part of the festival. They keep alive the art of Yoga through live show and talks, display and sample of the varied yogic food and through Indian dance and music.

How to reach Pondicherry
Air : The nearest airport is at Chennai (150km).
Rail : The nearest railhead is Villupuram (40km), which is directly connected to Chennai as well as Madurai and Thiruvanathapuram. One can also take a train from Bangalore to Cuddalore and then reach Pondicherry by road.
Road : Pondicherry is connected by road from Chennai (150km- 3 1/2 hrs journey), Bangalore (320km) and Kerala. Buses run regularly from the Tamil Nadu State Express Bus Stand at Parry's corner in Chennai to Pondy (NH 45, East Coast road). The Pondicherry Tourism Development Corporation also runs buses to Chennai.
