Kunthakulam, a small and beautiful village surrounded by natural forests and ponds is situated about 33kms south of Thirunelveli in Nanguneri taluk. It is famous of Kunthakulam bird sanctuary, an idyllic tourist destination for the bird watchers and the nature lovers. During the season from January to April, more than 10,000 of migratory birds visit here for procreation from various countries like Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, USA and Australia. Painted Storks, Pelicans, Cormorants, Spot-bill Ducks, White Ibis, Egrets, Herons, Minivets, Flycatchers, Partridges, Quails etc are some of the species of the birds that can be spotted here.
