Ekamara Kanan also known as Cactus garden with more than 1,050 varieties of cacti and succulents is situated about 16kms from Bhubaneswar. Cactus is an exotic and brightly coloured, leafless, thick plant with fleshy green stems, silver or golden hair and stalkless flowers grow in adverse climatic conditions. The cacti and succulents are famous for its medical values and the Indian succulents are generally used in Ayurveda and Unani medicines. Spreads over an area of 500-acre of land Ekamara Kanan, with the largest cactus collection in Asia, was established in 1985. The main aim of garden is to protect and preserve the endangered species of cactus. Besides cactus, Ekamara Kanan also houses variety of roses and many rare species of trees.
