Appu Ghar well-known as Mini Disneyland, situated in
Indra Gandhi Udyan at Pradhikaran near Bombay-Pune Highway is the first
amusement park in Pune. It is about 21kms from Pune city centre. Appu
is an amulet elephant (live elephant in the 1982 Asian Games hosted in
New Delhi) and ‘Ghar ‘ (Hindi) means house. Established on 19th November
1984, this theme park provides various fun related activities for children
as well as for the elders. Major attractions here are the different types
of rides, merry-go-rounds, huge spinners, and gigantic roller coasters
with various colors. There is a beautiful cool lake for the youngsters
and the old. Kids can enjoy numerous games. Small trains, Artificial Hill,
small castles and dune are also available for the kids. Magnificently
illuminated pathways and picturesque lawns make it an attractive picnic
spot. Outside the park one can found snacks stalls serving variety of
dishes and street vendors selling balloons and toys. The park opens
from 12. 00noon to 08. 00 pm.
