Gorewada Lake, situated 10 kms from Nagpur on the northwestern end of the city was created out of a 2,350 feet dam which was mainly used as the source for drinking water. The lake was established in 1911 by the water works department. Bordered by thick forest, Gorewada lake and its surrounding is the habitat for avian species and some wild life.
