St.Thomas Orthodox Valiyapally alias Thottamon Church, located on Punalur - Muvattupuzha State Highway, is the first Orthodox Church in Ranni, 14 km from Pathanamthitta. Constructed in the year 1905, the church which is noted for its architectural beauty, was renovated in 2007. The parish is under the jurisdiction of the Malankara Metropolitan and the Catholicate of the East (Moran Mor Baselios Marthoma Didymos I) of the Orthodox Syrian Church in India and belongs to Thumpamon Diocese. The annual festival of this church is celebrated from December 17th to 21st.
