The 33.5m high light house, erected in 1847, is situated in Thikodi, 30 km away from Kozhikode city. The lighthouse which overlooks the massive rock, Velliyamkallu off Moodadi coast was built after a shipwreck, the remains of which can still be seen here. The region around the Velliyamkallu rock is the transit home of migratory birds. Climbing the winding stairs of the light house is an amazing experience and the view of the Arabian Sea from the top is awesome. Permission is needed to go on top of the lighthouse.
