Also known as Mayyazhipuzha, the 54kms long Mahi River has its origin from the forests situated on the western slopes of the Wayanad Hills. Covering an area of 394 sq kms, this beautiful river cascades through the villages of Naripetta, Vanimel, Iyyancode, Iringanoor, Tripangathur, Peringalam, Edachery, Kacheri, Eramala, Kariyad, Olavilam, Kunnumakkara, Azhiyoor and Mahe. The river is the northern boundary of Mahe town, the former French settlement, located at a distance of 6 kms to the south of Thalassery, Kannur district. |
