Situated at a distance of 60kms from Kozhikode, Peruvannamuzhi dam site is a beautiful picnic spot set in the midst of hills. The height of the dam project is 35 m and the length is 175km. The reservoir serves as the drinking water source of three taluks Kozhikode, Quilandy and Vadakara. It also provides facilities for speedboat and rowboat cruises. There is a garden known as ‘Smaraka thottam’ that has been built in memory of the freedom fighters in this area. Other attractions of Peruvannamuzhi is the uninhabited islands here with a bird sanctuary, and a crocodile farm which houses around 15 crocodiles. Both are open for the tourist from 9 am to 6 pm.

One could directly reach Peruvannamuzhi by getting on to buses running between Kozhikode and Peruvannamuzhi. There are regular buses from Perambra to Peruvannamuzhi dam.
