The Watson Museum is located centrally in Jubilee Gardens in the
Memorial Institute Buildings and commemorates the life and times
of Colonel John Watson. The display at the museum inaugurated in
1888, includes silverware, pieces of Mohenjodaro artifacts, carvings
from 13th century, exhibits of natural history, textiles, handicrafts,
pottery, princely relics and a huge marble statue of Queen Victoria. The
artifacts are believed to belong to the Indus Valley Civilization.
Besides there are portraits and photographs of Saurashtra princes
and European dignitaries. The museum is open from 9am to 12.30pm
and 2.30pm to 5.00pm.
