Brahmaputra Beach Festival
Brahmaputra Beach Festival is held on the sandy beaches of Brahmaputra
river during the spring season.
The three day long festival is organised by
Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and the Assam Boat Racing
Rowing Association (ABRRA) to promote indigenous culture, crafts
and popularising the traditional sports of Assam. It co-occurs with Magh
Bihu, which is the harvest festival of the Assamese people. The
festival has thrilling water sports and other colourful events to
cater to all age groups. Exciting adventure sports include wind surfing,
rafting, canoeing, kayaking, para-dropping, hot air ballooning etc.
Several cultural programmes and entertainment like elephant race and kite
flying are also held. The stalls in the mela are occupied with products
bearing the signs of traditional craftsmanship. |
