Ginger
has good medicinal effects
for various stomach issues from nausea, abdomen pain and even for
acidity. Prepare ginger tea by adding 3 flakes of ginger sliced in
2 cups of water. Boil it for 30 minutes, remove ginger from tea
and drink it 20 minutes before meals.
Powder one clove and one cardamom together. Use the
powder as a mouth freshener after every meal. It prevents acidity
and bad breath.
Boil one cup of water. To this add 1 tsp of Aniseed.
Keep it overnight. Strain the water in the morning and add 1 tsp of
honey. Take it three times a day. It will work.
Mix half a gram of pepper powder with honey. It works
against gastric problems.
Add a pinch of 'hing' or turmeric and
half teaspoon of fenugreek to butter milk and drink before going
to bed at night. It is an effective treatment for gastritis.
Mix 1 or half table spoon of baking soda into a glass
of water. Stir well and drink it 3-4 times a day.
Chewing sugar free gum for 30 minutes after a meal will
be an effective way to reduce heart burn. Chewing gum stimulates the
salivary glands, and increases the flow of saliva. Any acid that has
built up in the gut is diluted and washed away or cleared out more
quickly.
Try to eat an overripe banana during the attack of
acidity. Being an effective antacid, bananas will coat the inner
lining of the stomach and suppress acid secretion.
Tulsi is a good digestive agent. It stimulates the stomach
to produce more mucous and reduces the effects of peptic acid and
controls acidity. Eat five to six basil leaves after your meal
and get instant relief.
Jeera or Cumin stimulates the production of saliva which
helps better digestion. It is advisable to chew cumin directly after
a meal or add fried jeera in boiled water and drink when it gets cool.
Make a powdered mixture of equal parts of rock candy,
fennel, and green cardamom. Whenever you feel heartburn, mix 1 teaspoon
of the mixture in a glass of cold milk and drink.
To get instant relief from acidity, boil water with
two pods of cardamom and drink once it gets cooled.
Mint leaves have been used for ages as a mouth freshener.
It reduces the acid content in the stomach and improves digestion.
Chop mint leaves and put it in boiling water and drink after it cools.
Boil water by adding coriander and drink it 3-4 times
a day.
Eat 3-4 almonds directly after every meal or snack.
Milk contains Calcium which will prevent acid formation
as well as absorb excess acid produced. Therefore drinking cold milk
during an acidity attack is effective as the cold also reduce the burning
sensation. It is advisable to add a table spoon of ghee to
make it more effective.
