Tabassum Fatima Hashmi aka Tabbu, one of the versatile
actress in the Indian Film Industry, is the sister of yesteryear
actress Farha. The 'ruk ruk girl' from Hyderabad, started her film
career as a child artiste in Dev Anand's 'Hum Naujawan' (1985).
Tabu's debut as a lead actress was supposed to be' Prem', but it
was 'Pehla Pehla Pyar' (1994) that released first. Within a short
span of time, this natural and naive lass became an actress to reckon
with by doing a couple of meaningful roles. She bagged two National
Awards in 1996 and 2001 for her rousing performances in 'Maachis'
(1996) and 'Chandni Bar' (2001). Other awards to her credit includes
Filmfare sensational debut 1995, Critics awards for the years 1997,
1999, and 2000, Screen Videocon Best Actress Award 2000 etc. Apart
from Bollywood, the gorgeous beauty has acted in a number of regional
films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
