The Hawa Hawai Girl Sridevi, one of the most successful
actress of Indian cinema in the 80's and 90's, was born as Shree
Amma Iyanger in Sivakasi (Tamil Nadu). She started her career as
a child artist in South Indian regional films at the age of four
and became a heroine at 13. With in a short span she became a top
actress in the south and was introduced to Bollywood with the flop
flick 'Solwa Savan' (1979). The stunning lass established herself
as a super heroine with 'Himmatwala' which was released in 1983.
Since then there was no looking back for this marvelous maverick.
With her arresting beauty, blatant sex appeal, boisterous dance
and memory-clutching performances in a variety of roles, Sridevi
carved a niche for herself as the most versatile actress in Bollywood
and has received innumerable awards and accolades.
Some of the awards to her credit includes two National Awards, Film
Fare Awards for the years 1981 (Tamil), 1990, 1992, 1993 (Telugu),
Nandi Award 1993, Nargis Dutt Award, Lifetime Achievement Award
etc. She retained the top most position for a long time until Madhuri
Dixit came along. Sridevi got married to producer Boney Kapoor in
1996 and has two daughters Jhanvi and Khushi.
