Hema Malini, the dream girl of the seventies, hailing
from the South, started her career with 'Sapno Ka Saudagar' (1968).
Initially she did a few trivial films, then her outstanding performance
in 'Seeta Aur Geeta’(1972) established her as the queen of the box-office.
With her captivating beauty and tinkling laugh Hema, soon became
the heartthrob of the masses in the late seventies and early eighties.
An excellent Bharat Natyam dancer, wife to Dharmendra, one of Bollywood's
biggest stars, she eventually shifted from acting to direction to
television to stage dance shows. In 2000, she was awarded the 'Padma
Shri' by the government of India. After a long break, she has recently
made a comeback to films. Very ambitious, Hema has always lead her
life her way, and this still gorgeous actress in her fifties is
busy with politics, social work and of course films.
