Anoushka Shankar, world famous sitar artist and
daughter of eminent sitar maestro Ravi Shankar is a unique artist
with tremendous talent. Born in London, she has been playing sitar
under her father since nine and made her debut performance at the
age of 13. Since then there was no looking back for this gifted
classical sitarist. Critically acclaimed for her first solo recording
'Anoushka' (1998), she was nominated two times for the prestigious
Grammy Award. Anoushka was the first female to receive the British
Parliament's House of Commons Shield, and to perform at the Ramakrishna
Centre in Calcutta. She was chosen as one of four Indian women in
2003 by Television Academy, Asmi and India Times and in 2004, one
of twenty Asian Heroes by Time magazine. Some of the her works include
'Anourag', 'Live at Carnegie Hall', 'Bapi: The Love of my Life',
a biography she wrote on her father, 'Rise' etc. and has acted in
a film 'Dance Like a Man'. In her concerts, she captivates the audience
with her exotic beauty, prodigious talent and impeccable pedigree.
