Araikal Madhavanunni (Mammootty) is 'Veliyettan' which literally means eldest brother in Malayalam. And as the eldest of five, Madhavanunni takes his role very seriously. He provides protection and guidance for his younger siblings, and although he is seen as a strict figure, he has his brothers’ best interests at heart.

As the story continues, it portrays Madhavanunni as a character who is overprotective of his family, and who does not take much time out for himself. Whenever those that he loves are in need, he is quick to their rescue, no matter who has to take the blame or pay the consequences for the crime. This is how Shobana becomes his wife in the film and how he rescues his younger brother from being innocently accused of murder.

In all honesty, there is a lot of violence and endless fighting scenes as Madhavanunni tries to protect and keep his family together, along with a few song-and –dance sequences which are essential for a Malayalam film, these days. And even though the theme is touching and there is a star-studded cast, the film itself is drawn-out and poorly taken, leaving audiences quiet disappointed.

Overall, the film can be as poor as anything.
