The title of the film says it all. "Suntaragaali" ('Storm')
is an out-and-out action film tailor-made for its hero, Darshan.
Director Sadhu Kokila, however, has used all possible commercial ingredients
to enhance the film's mass appeal. It is not disappointing fare for
viewers averse to excessive action because the film offers rip-roaring
comedy as well.
Besides, there are good performances from Darshan and veteran artistes
like Rangayana Raghu and Sadhu Kokila himself.
The title reminds one of a popular lyric in the hugely successful film
"Kalasi Palya", featuring Darshan and Rakshitha. But the hero's
character is quite different here.
Yes, Darshan has a larger-than-life image, but he makes you laugh.
Playing a slum-dweller, he succeeds in speaking with the accent that
the role demands.
"Suntaragaali" is strewn with allusions to recent political
incidents in Karnataka. The election background offers scope for comedy
and the references to coalition politics give the film a contemporary
touch.
Rakshitha does well.
Bollywood actor Ashish Vidyarthi, as Darshan's father, is just about
adequate. Seetha makes a difference with her dignified presence. Comedy
sequences featuring Sadhu Kokila and 'Bullet' Prakash are a highlight
of the film.
Anaji Nagaraj's camera work is good, but Sadhu could have provided
better music. "Nannaane Nannaane" and "Neen Nan Attig
Belakiddange Manju" are well-choreographed songs
