After a thug in "Shankar Dada MBBS" and a classical singer in "Swarabhishekam", Srikanth plays the role of a cable operator in "Kanchanamala Cable TV".
Yet again, he displays his comic timing and has a bunch of comedians to help him in holding audience interest. But debutant director Parthasarathy's fixation for veteran Vamsi's style of narration makes him rely too heavily on comedy, which dilutes the love theme of the film.
If you overlook some lewd comedy, the film is a good rib-tickler. But
you should also leave your thinking caps behind to enjoy this rustic
love tale, which reminds you of films like "April Okati Viduthala".
New girl
Laxmi Roi displays lots of skin, but falls short in acting skills and
fails to do a convincing job. She, however, exhibits fear comfortably
and looks a promising glam girl.
Comedians Sivaji and Sunil as friends of Srikanth look every bit the village bumpkins. Another bunch, including Krishna Bhagwan, Raghubabu and M.S. Narayana, provides them ample support. Character actor Satyanarayana strolls through his role while Bharani as a criminal lawyer is adequate.
Composer Radhakrishna, who showed promise with his delightful score in "Anand", chooses an easy way out and rehashes a few old hits including the title number - and disappoints.
Parthasarathy shows good taste in the visuals but he should understand that the plot is predominant and comedy cannot replace it.
