Son of veteran actor Suresh Oberoi, Vivek Oberoi was the most talked
about lad in town long before 'Company' released. Hair falling over
his forehead, hard face with that innocent appeal, handsome body and
what not? With a Masters Degree in film acting from New York, Vivek
started his career in Indian film Industry as a scriptwriter.
He got his first break in Ram Gopal Varma's gangster flick "Company"
(2002). The character he played in the film that of an underworld
kingpin, only added charisma to his persona. But it was not all smooth
for the charming boy. His next film 'Road' hit hard at the box office.
Though 'Darna Mana Hai',
his next film was a failure, Shaad Ali’s 'Saathiya' was a great success
and it gave Vivek’s career a slight push. While shooting for Mani
Ratnam's 'Yuva'
he had an accident which was quite serious. His next film was 'Masti'
a comedy which was accepted by the audience.
Meanwhile Vivek has also roped in Roeland Joeffrey’s Hollywood film
'The Invaders'. His got a role as a warrior poet in the film 'Kisna'
(2005), but he didn't really rise up to what the character demands.
In 'Kaal' along
with Ajay Devgan and John Abraham he played his volatile character
with a flair for bridled fear. His latest movie 'Home
Delivery' has done good business at the box office. Vivek
Oberoi next release will be Indra Kumar's 'Pyare Mohan', with Fardeen
Khan and Isha Deol.
On the personal front, he was previously engaged to Gurpreet Brar, however, the two did
not wed. Then he was linked with Aishwarya Rai. But there is a
rumour that he is not currently seeing her. He got himself
into the headlines for a press conference outburst against Salman
Khan, whom he claimed called him repeatedly during the night and threatened
to kill him.
Vivek has a very humane side to him, he adopted and helped re-build
a village which was hit severely by the Tsunami.
