Urmila Matondkar started her carrier
as a child artist, appeard in number of films including "Masoom"
in 1982. Her first film as a lead actress was the disappointing Narsimha.
With insignificant roles in few other films, her career really took a
turn with "Rangeela". The credit for her being recognised as
an actress goes completely to director Ram Gopal Verma. Her potential
to dance and acting discovered and displayed by Verma in the film made
Urmila an overnight star.
Urmila Matondkar is undoubtedly a talented
actress, but it is her great body, glamorous look and dance that give
the 'oomph girl' an edge in the cutthroat world of films. She is an intensely
private person and rarley gives interviews. She is a confessed bookworm.
Currently single, with the usual rumours of her link with verma.
