The movie narrates five different stories each dealing with an aspect
of love, woven together brilliantly. Every set of characters have their
own story. The blind love between the wedding 'Mandap' contractor (Vijay
Raaz ) and the family's domestic servant Alice (Tilottama Shome), after
he sees her trying on the ornaments of the bride; mature love between
the parents of the bride amidst coping with the pressures of dealing with
the relatives and the mounting expenses. Teenage lust between the young,
sexy, Ayesha (Neha Dubey) and Rahul (Randeep Hooda), a Sydney returned
student and last of all Riya (Shefali Chhaya) the daughter of one of the
deceased Verma brothers who lets out a dark secret when she sees her little
cousin led by her eldest uncle Tej Puri (Rajat Kapoor) who abused her,
which shocks the family
Each plot woven deftly by a solid script will touch a chord in the viewers
mind. Although made with a small budget, the film doesn't doesn't leave
out the wedding opulence. It brings out the culture of contemporary India
at its typical best. Monsoon wedding celebrates love, family and life..
Cinematographer Declan Quinn has captured the colour, gaiety of the wedding,
the emotions of the characters and the monsoon drenched Delhi city beautifully.
The actors have done their part well especially Naseeruddin Shah, Lillette
dubey, Vijay Raaz and Shefali Chhaya. Music is lilting Punjabi with the
theme song by Sukhwindara Singh.
A film worth watching. We give it a very good rating.
