The first time director deserves credit for making a light and enjoyable
movie out of the theme. The films fares well in the dialogue, performances
and the emotional department. The screenplay suffers in the second half,
where the sequences needs to be edited a bit. There is absolutely no need
for the songs in the second half, it only hampers the flow of the movie.
Some of the sequences are absolutely hilarious but the jokes are very
'mumbaish'.
The father son duo gives a wonderful performance especially the emotional
scenes between them is portrayed really well. Sunjay Dutt as Munnabhai
enacts his role as a conscientious 'dada', a concerned medical student
and a caring son with ease. Veteran Sunil Dutt back in movies after
a break, is a natural. It is a pleasure to watch him. Arshad Warsi as
Munnabhai's right hand man gives a commendable performance. The supporting
cast Gracy Singh, Jimmy Shergill, Boman Irani with their characters
etched out well gives adequate support.
Overall the Munnabai MBBS is a feel good movie worth watching. It may
fare well at the box office for its light moments and emotional quotient.
