The much anticipated, the
much hyped 'Lucky' has been released and moreover it meets the expectations...
Lucky is a romantic tale in dire circumstances between two unlikely
protagonists. The story is set in St. Petersburgh in Russia, Lucky (
Sneha Ullal) a school girl is on her way to school. She is praying to
her guardian angel that the school shuts down, so that she can skip
her test scheduled that day.
Her prayers turns out to be true but for the wrong reasons. She skips
her test alright, but embarks on a nightmare, a desperate journey for
survival. Quite unexpectedly she gets right in the middle of a revolt
that breaks out suddenly and it becomes a ride for safety. As fear overtakes
the naive, young girl she runs into a stranger. Aditya ( Salman Khan)
a native Indian, is a cool guy unperturbed by the happenings around
them and they travel together towards safety.
They journey together through the icy wildnerness of Russia.. through
burning highways, abandoned theatres, old Cemeteries, escaping ambushes.
Their escapade binds these strangers together. In the middle, they get
captured by terrorists. When even Aditya runs out of ideas to save them,
a Colonel , One Mr. Pindidas Kapoor (Mithun Chakraborthy) comes to their
rescue...
The Debutant
directors deserve credit for the overall international feel of the film.
Technically the film is superb, with good action, beautiful Cinematography
and music. Although the film has some flaws on the writing aspect and
the dialogues at times, overall look and feel makes up for that. The dialogues
in Russian could have been avoided or at least given subtitles. Though
the pace slackens in the middle, it picks up post interval and ends in
an apt climax. Songs by Adnan Swami is soothing combined with the breathtaking
locales of Russia pictured by Sudeep Chatterjee.
Performances of the lead pair are noteworthy. Sneha Ullal and Salman
Khan complement each other very well. Sneha looks her part as the innocent,
sweet school girl and she looks like Aishwarya at times. Khan as always
performs the emotional aspects with elan. Mithun Chakraborthy looks foolish
as the intelligence officer. The rest of the cast is ok.
Overall despite the flaws, the film is worth watching for the fresh
pairing, beautiful locales, music and good action. ..
