Both,
killing people but for different reasons. Bhaskar had pleaded with Adi
to go back to their village and lead a peaceful life to no avail. Adi,
who had even cost his job -as Bhaskar got suspended cause his seniors
thought he was too soft on his childhood friend and now Bhaskar was
waiting for Adi... now he has to prove himself and to his superiors
by killing his buddy or getting himself killed in the process. ..will
he the survive the night?? that forms the crux of the story.
Director N. Chandra has depicted the story very realistically. Real
life situations, real locations and no songs to deviate the track. The
characters are just human being facing hardships and struggling for
survival. Here there is no good versus evil track, no morals -whoever
survives is the winner. Entertainment wise the movie has nothing much
to offer. Overall it tends to be grim but the second half of the movie
makes an impact with a number of arresting sequences. Background score
is apt for the mood of the film.
The actors have come up with fine performances. Om Puri performs his
role as Gokhale, a honest but ruthless cop, with ease. Nandita Das emotes
well especially in situations of struggle in the second half of the
film. Debutante Amitabh Dayal gives a fine performance as the innocent,
honest police officer who changes to a ruthless killer and Anoop Soni,
though in a small role leaves a strong impact
Overall the film is watchable for its honest depiction but may not
run well at the box-office for its grimness.
