The directors Abbas and Mustan are back with yet another thriller 'Humraaz' which has all the masalas to keep people glued to their seats. The film has a novel story line, a tight script, an attractive star cast, apt music.. everything it takes to be a winner.

The story- a love triangle although initially seems familiar to one of the umpteen number of movies foretold with the same old theme, takes a very unexpected turn near the interval.

The lead singers of a music troupe Karan ( Akshaye Khanna) and Priya ( Amisha Patel) are in love. Karan makes sure that their troupe gets the prestigious contract to perform on a luxury cruise liner owned by millionaire Raj Singhania ( Bobby Deol).

The troupe performs on the ship en-route a cruise from Singapore to Malaysia. Raj Singhania who sees Priya, falls for her not knowing her relationship with Karan. Priya too encourages his advances and by the end of the cruise the all smitten Raj proposes to her. Priya agrees readily but one would never think of the ulterior motive behind the seemingly naive Priya till the interval.

The second half of the movie is thrilling to the viewers with no inkling as to what is going to happen next. The ploy behind the entire drama comes out when Priya cuddles up with Karan after her engagement to Raj and reveals their plans. Priya marries Raj as planned but she begins to have second thoughts about continuing with her ploy. It is worth a watch how the film unfolds and ends... with Raj realising the truth and his confrontations with Karan and Priya.

The directors deserve full appreciation for the bold storyline and the slick way they have handled the whole film. All the three main characters have a negative shade to them which is unheard of, in a Hindi movie. All three of them have done justice to their roles, especially the men. Akshaye after the hit 'Dil Chahta Hai' again proves that he can act, even in a negative role. Bobby Deol portrays his emotions well especially his anguish when he realises his wife's betrayal. Amisha looks lovely and easily carries off her role especially in the latter half, as Raj's wife. Farhan as Akshay's friend does his part.

Script by Shyam K. Goel & Shiraz Ahmed is perfect as it holds the film together till the end. Music by Himesh Reshammiya is tilting with one or two good numbers and cinematography is cool. On the whole the film is good, expect maybe for its length and Johnny Levers comical attempts which are minor flaws.
