Meanwhile Doctor Otto Octavius aka Doc Ock ( Alfred Molina), a brilliant
scientist is working on a breakthrough fusion energy invention for Peter's
friend Harry Osborn's (James Franco) company. The doctor develops a
mechanical suit that can be fitted into his spinal cord with monstrous
tentacles equipped with artificial intelligence. During one of his experiments
his mind becomes diabolically twisted and Doc Ock turns out to be a
power hungry, evil scientist terrorizing New York. Peter who was planning
to get out of the Spider-Man business and reveal his love for Mary Jane,
finds that she is already engaged to John. Again, his love and compassion
for the community, gets Peter back to fighting crime and the mad man
Doc Ock.
Dazzling storyteller Sam Raimi spins a web of excellence that is better
that the original one. He brings out the story of a common guy with
extra ordinary abilities and common problems. By putting a human touch
to the story, the director has made the film a dazzling story of adventure,
courage and love. Intimidating Doc Ock steals the show. Toby Maguire
is great and proves yet again that he fits the bill as the superhero.
Dunset brings a human touch as his girlfriend. She and Maguire have
good chemistry together. Visual effects are breathtaking and the script
is very well written.
As a whole it is a delightful movie and has something for everyone.
It is one of best comic inspired films ever made, with a good blend
of comedy, romance, melodrama and special effects. It has a good set
up for a sequel Spider Man 3.
We rate this movie Very Good.
