Oscar has hopes and dreams of having a good life at the top of the
reef. He shares his dreams and schemes with receptionist Angie (Renee
Zellweger), his sometime girlfriend. She wants to be his lover but Oscar
is caught up in his utopia to take her seriously.
Oscar has his moment when he gets involved in an accident involving
the two shark brothers, Lenny (Jack Black) and Frankie (Michael Imperioli),
who are the sons of Don Lino. Frankie is hit on the head by an anchor
and dies, and Lenny disappears. Then Oscar suddenly, though erroneously,
becomes the local champ and declares himself a "Shark Slayer". He becomes
famous on the reef but Angie has the courage to tell the truth about
his accomplishment that is based on a big lie.
The movie has many pleasant witty moments. It is visually exciting
with brilliant colors. It has a long list of supporting cast that include
Angelina Jolie as sexpot Lola, Marty Scorsese as Oscar's boss, Ziggy
Marley and Doug E.Doug as Rastafarian jelly fish. Despite the famed
star cast including Will smith, Jack Black and Renee Zellweger, the
movie cannot be compared with other recent hit 'Fish' films. It is a
decent ocean story without much depth. The movie may go down well with
the kids as well as some adults for its humour.
